Great Basin Hall

Great Basin Hall is a dormitory located at the University of Nevada, Reno. The concept behind the new hall was for informal mentoring to take place in an effort to continue to recruit and retain students in the STEM fields. It was designed to house 400+ students, 90 percent freshman and 10 percent upperclassmen. This new residence hall is 114,151 sq. ft. Construction began in Fall 2016, was completed in Summer 2018, and began housing students on August 18, 2018, for the new school year. PK Electrical designed the power, lighting, and low voltage design. The building was designed to LEED Gold equivalency with a cost of $65 million and a CMAR delivery method.
